Dear Parents,
Welcome to second grade! My name is Michael Brayton and I will be your child's teacher this year and I am so excited to begin this year of teaching with you and your child. Starting off the school year with a new teacher can be very scary. I created this website so both parents and students can begin to get to know me better on a professional and personal level. If there is anything you wish to ask about our classroom or any concerns you may have please feel free to call, write, or email me any time.
To give you a little information about my education background, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2009. I originally began to further my education in Guidance Counseling until I found myself wanting to be more involved with students. Shortly after I decided to attend The College of New Jersey for my Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education. In May of 2013 I graduated from The College of New Jersey after successfully completing my student teaching experience. I was very fortunate to student teach in the most amazing school...right here in Chesterfield Elementary! From January 2013 through May 2013 I student taught with Ms. Midora, here in second grade. The experience was amazing and I could not be happier about beginning my teaching career here at Chesterfield. I am looking forward to a fantastic year with both you (the parents) and my students.
Outside of school, I have many hobbies that you yourselves probably have. I enjoy outdoor activities (kayaking, camping, hiking, biking, etc.), watching movies, being with my friends, watching sports (mostly football, golf, and baseball), reading, and spending time with my family (the most important thing in the world to me). My favorite sport is without a doubt football and am a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan. I have liked them ever since I was about 4 years old and to this day have no idea why. I even bought a share of their organization to technically make me a part owner of the team! Baseball wise my favorite team is the Philadelphia Phillies, despite the seasons they have been having lately. I hope you feel you know a little more about me after visiting my website and please do not hesitate to email, write, or call me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year.
In order to have a successful year am I strong believer in strong parental communication and involvement in my classroom. Involving parents in the classroom is a crucial part in student learning, after all the first and most important teachers in a child's life is their parent! I am looking forward to meeting my class and working with the parents throughout the school year.
